Calicut has many study abroad consultancies, and choosing one is one of the first big decisions of your journey. The right consultant saves you money, time and stress; the wrong one can cost you an intake or lead to a visa refusal. Use this checklist on any consultancy, including us.
The 8-point checklist
- They ask about you before they sell anything. A good consultant starts with your marks, budget and career goal, not with a university they want to push.
- They tell you when something won't work. If your profile doesn't fit a course or country, they say so and offer realistic alternatives.
- They show the full cost upfront. Tuition, living costs, visa fees and the funds you must show, before you apply.
- They are open about fees and partnerships. Ask whether they charge you and how universities pay them. A trustworthy consultancy answers clearly.
- They know the country first-hand. Someone who has lived there can tell you about rent, part-time work, weather and job hunting.
- They have real, recent, local reviews. Check their Google reviews, and ask to speak to a past student from Kerala.
- They stay with you after the offer. Visa preparation, accommodation and a pre-departure briefing should be included.
- They never promise a guaranteed visa. Visa decisions belong to the embassy or Home Office. A guarantee is a red flag.
Questions to ask in your first meeting
- Which universities would you shortlist for my profile, and why?
- What will my full first-year cost be, including living costs?
- Which scholarships can I apply for?
- What happens if my visa is refused?
- Can I talk to a student you helped last year?
